How to: Long Lasting Red Lips

There was a time not so long ago that I had to wear the red lips for a special occasion, a choir presentation that is. I've been taught that the best lip color to wear during stage performances is red. The newbie in me experimented with these few lip products and I was amazed with the results.

I wore it for a total of 6 hours, 4pm -10 pm with a heavy and oily buffet dinner in between and I came home with these lips. Honestly, no touch ups were done here and I might have slightly used a tablet napkin after eating. I didn't even bother looking in a mirror while I was still at the venue. How I did it? Here are the steps and the products:

Step 1: On clean and newly exfoliated lips, apply red lipliner all over the lips. I used LA Colors Auto Lipliner in 569 (Php 80 at Metro Ayala)

Step 2: Apply red lipstick with a matte formula all over the lips and pat with tissue. I did this step twice using LA Colors Lipstick in Red Tango (Php 80 at Metro Ayala)

Step 3: Apply another red lipstick with a moisturizing formula all over the lips and pat lightly with tissue. Do this once. This is NYX Round Lipstick in Pure Red (Php150 online).

Step 4: Lastly, apply a red lipgloss, here I was using NYX Lipgloss in True Red (Php200 online).

Not bad for just using 4 affordable products right? Honestly this might even be too much but with the pleasing results, its worth it. Looked like I came home ready for another performance. Actually, except for the lips, I wouldn't really dare. :)

Swatch: NYX Round Lipstick in Indian Pink

Bare Lips

With Nyx Round Lipstick in Indian Pink

The Good: I so love this pretty color, it's a nudie peachy pink shade with golden frosty shimmer.

The Not-So-Good: It's moisturizing but my lips seem to appear dry  and peeling . It emphasizes the lip lines. Doesn't last that long.

I tend to have this issue with light colored lipsticks, they make my lips appear dry. That is somehow a major "but" for me, though application of a lipgloss can help a bit. Also, there's a little difference if its applied thinly. Still glad that I've tried this shade though. Got this from Ms Kazie of  Krozer Fashion Online  for PhP 150 ($3).

Good luck for another weekday ahead!

Swatch: Nyx Round Lipstick in B52

actual color is almost the same here

Bare lips

With NYX B52 Round lipstick

The Good: Smooth application, creamy, no shimmers, color compliments well with any skin tone

The Not-So-Good: Doesn't last long, can get too soft with the Philippine weather

This is not my first NYX round lippie, but finally this is the first one that I have been using for a longer time than the others that I've tried. Please excuse the photo actual application does seem a bit weird, though it was taken with natural lighting. Another thing I liked about it, it somewhat makes the skin look bright, thus the effect of the last photo I guess. In person, its almost like my natural lip color, and more even. I don't know but I couldn't seem to like NYX lipsticks with shimmer finish. It might just be me but outcome of color pay-off and texture are not the same. I may also be just too picky.

Anyways, I bought this from pretty Ms Kaz of  Krozer Online who's based in Cebu City Philippines, and who is also selling her NYX lipsticks and other make-up for wholesale prices. So you might want to check her site         Krozer Fashion Shop  before it runs out!

Enjoy the weekend everyone!

Nyx Girls Round Lipgloss *Mauve

* Burts bees lip balm topped with Nyx Round Lip Gloss in Mauve

Packaging: Not so hygienic wand applicator. Opening does not regulate the amount of gloss the tip will carry. It's usually more than enough for me. It gets messy overtime, the mouth accumulates some product that I had to wipe it with tissue occassionally.

Scent: Slightly fragranced with a smell I'd rather not want to be bothered about.

Feature: It is quiet a lip color, rather than a gloss. It is pigmented to a nudish pink color. I use it after a dark colored lipstick to tone it down or top it with a shiny gloss for nude look. Staying power is questionable, feels like it gets washed out right away when used alone.

Availability:  Nyx has lots & lots of different shades. Bought this from an online seller not more than Php200 ($4)

Value for Money: ♥♥♥

Overall Rating: ♥♥♥

I am still giving credit to this wand for the times that I needed to neutralize striking plum or red lippies.
